Tong Engineering
Tong Engineering based in Spilsby, Lincolnshire are UK market leaders in vegetable handling equipment. In 2020 they completed phase one of their site expansion and in 2021 instructed Timmins Engineering to complete the second and third phases of the project.
The second & third phases, a three million pound investment into the purpose-built manufacturing facility took place on their seven-acre site in Lincolnshire to create additional production, warehousing and storage facilities, machine bay, offices, conference rooms and shot-blast, paint spraying, and powder coating bays.
Tong Engineering’s New Premises
The 90,000ft² factory officially opened its doors in July 2022 following a rapid build time provided by Timmins Engineering.
The New Facilities
The new facility comprises of three buildings. Phase one created a 126 metres long, 24 metres wide and 11 metres high street constructed building. While Timmins were instructed to complete the second two builds, the first of equal size and the second a smaller but none less impressive steel office and warehousing building.
All three buildings have been fitted with overhead lifting cranes, making production easier for Tong Engineering when handling large equipment and turnkey handling lines. The flagship site is now home to one of the largest manufacturing sites in Lincolnshire, along with one of the most impressive meeting facilities which overlook the rolling Lincolnshire Wolds.
Landmark Achievement
Charles Tong, Chairman at Tong Engineering, describes the build as a “landmark achievement” for all involved and will see Tong Engineering increase their capacity well into the future.
