Ocean Walker specialises in teaching the unique injury prevention front crawl swim stroke, the Ocean Walker Stroke Technique. Timmins recently worked with Ocean Walker to help transform an existing portal steel-framed barn in Lincolnshire into a swimming a wellbeing centre.
The objective of the conversion was to create a mixed-use space, to incorporate an endless swimming pool tank, wetroom and gym, plus a large open space for conferencing/group events and classes.
The barn overlooks Ocean Walker’s newly constructed open water swimming lake, with one whole side glazed, for the extra WOW factor view.
When first speaking with Adam from Ocean Walker, Timmins Engineering were made aware of very strict deadlines for the build. The project was due to start in Summer 2020, but COVID put all plans back.
Timmins worked tirelessly to recover lost time due to the pandemic to meet the objective of the works completion date. This was to ensure that the centre could reopen as planned in 2021.
“We chose to work with Timmins as they came highly recommended from a number of contacts. Their exceptional timekeeping despite external factors really allowed their professionalism and dedication to shine through. We would definitely work with Timmins Engineering again”.
“As swim coaches, we were completely reliant on hiring pool time from local swimming baths. We couldn’t do this at all in 2020 due to COVID and even in 2021, it would have been difficult, as pools have to manage running their facility along with new restrictions. The new facility, with thanks to Timmins, means that as soon as restrictions allowed us, we could book in clients, manage our own timetable and get to work straight away.
This was what the facility was created for even without the pandemic causing more disruption, so it has become more important for us than we could have realised. Every client that has been and used the facility is blown away by it. The space that the facility has created will also allow us to evolve and grow our business. Whether that be for fitness classes, conferencing, wellbeing workshops and more”.
